Salem's Lot è un film horror del 2024 diretto da Gary Dauberman.
La pellicola è l'adattamento cinematografico dell'omonimo romanzo di Stephen King, già riadattato per il piccolo schermo nel 1979 (Le notti di Salem) e nel 2004 (Salem's Lot).
Trama
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Contea di Cumberland 1975. Lo scrittore di successo Ben Mears torna a Jerusalem's lot, cittadina del New England dove ha trascorso gli anni di gioventù. Ma a Salem's Lot (o al "lot", come lo chiamano gli abitanti) ci sono previsioni fosche per Ben in qualche modo legate a Casa Marsten, sinistra magione il cui ricordo lo ha perseguitato per anni. E, al suo rientro, diventata dimora di un antico e potente vampiro.
Produzione
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Il film è stato annunciato nel 2019, mentre l'anno seguente è stato confermato che Gary Dauberman, già scritturato in veste di sceneggiatore, avrebbe curato anche la regia del film.[1]
Distribuzione
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]Inizialmente prevista per il 9 settembre 2022,[2] la distribuzione è stata posticipata al 21 aprile 2023 e infine al 3 ottobre 2024, data in cui Salem's Lot è strato reso disponibile sulla piattaforma Max;[3] il 25 settembre precedente il film era stato proiettano in anteprima mondiale al festival Beyond Fest.[4]
Accoglienza

«There’s a reason this story has been told twice in mini-series form. You can’t do it in a feature. Even at almost two hours, the 2024 “Salem’s Lot” feels almost hysterically rushed, with scenes picking up halfway through them and things like segues to mark the passage of time just missing entirely. It’s no exaggeration to say there are scene transitions in “Salem’s Lot” in which it honestly feels like maybe you accidentally fast-forwarded a few minutes and missed the connective tissue.»
«C’è una ragione per cui questa storia è stata raccontata due volte sotto forma di miniserie. Non puoi farlo in una funzione. Anche a quasi due ore, “Le notti di Salem” del 2024 sembra quasi istericamente affrettato, con scene che riprendono a metà e cose come i seguiti per segnare il passaggio del tempo che mancano del tutto. Non è esagerato affermare che ci sono transizioni di scena in "Le notti di Salem" in cui onestamente sembra che tu abbia accidentalmente fatto avanzare velocemente di qualche minuto e ti sia sfuggito il tessuto connettivo»
